Union Home and Cooperation Minister attended the fifth All India Official Language Conference held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on the occasion of Hindi Diwas 2025. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Home Sanjay Kumar and many other dignitaries also attended the event.
The conference was addressed by the Union Minister of Home and Cooperation, along with state and central leaders, language experts and academics. conference was held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, which is the fifth consecutive year when the program to encourage dialogue in various areas.
The focus of the conference was on promotion, conservation and development of Hindi and other Indian languages. union Home minister emphasized that Hindi should not only become the language of administration or dialogue but also become the language of science, technology, judiciary and policing. Publications were also released on the occasion.
The purpose of this initiative is to strengthen the role of Hindi by ensuring harmony with all Indian languages. The Union Home Minister highlighted that Hindi and regional languages complement each other, with the example of Gujarat where the co-existence of Gujarati and Hindi has enriched education and communication.
The charioteer translation system was introduced, which enables uninterrupted translation from Hindi in all major Indian languages, ensuring multilingual communication at the official level.
The word Syndhu dictionary, which began with 51,000 words, has now expanded to more than 7 lakh words, aiming to become the world’s largest dictionary by 2029.
The Indian language section, inspired by the Prime Minister’s point of view, is actively promoting the exchange between Hindi and other Indian languages.
More than 3.28 lakh government employees have been trained in Hindi along with training in typing, shorthand and translation.
National level examinations including JEE, NEET, UGC and CAPF are now being conducted in 12 Indian languages, giving students more opportunities to succeed in their mother tongue.
AI-operated devices such as smart glasses were demonstrated for visually impaired people, which highlighted how technology could increase inclusion and access to the original languages.
Union Home Minister underlined that no country can feel true pride until its people communicate in their mother tongue. Referring to the legacy of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the minister added Swaraj, Swadhama and Self Language as the major pillars of national pride.
He insisted that Hindi and Indian languages are not the remains of the past, but the future languages, which are capable of leading the progress in technology, science, education and governance.
