DFCCIL Achieves Record Train Interchange on Republic Day 2026

Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) marked Republic Day 2026 with a significant milestone in national freight operations by achieving record train operation efficiency across its network. The day witnessed the highest-ever aggregate interchange of freight trains between the Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs) and Indian Railways, reflecting enhanced coordination, capacity utilisation and operational maturity.

On January 26, 2026, a total of 907 freight trains were interchanged in a single day, surpassing the previous record of 898 trains achieved on January 12, 2026. This also marked the highest-ever handover of trains from DFCCIL to Indian Railways, underlining the growing role of DFCs in strengthening India’s freight logistics backbone.

At the corridor level, the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) recorded its highest-ever interchange of 201 trains with East Central Railway (ECR), exceeding the earlier record of 198 trains. Similarly, the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) achieved a new benchmark with 138 train interchanges with North Western Railway (NWR), improving upon the previous best of 129 trains recorded in November 2025.

Interchange refers to the formal operational transfer of freight trains between DFCCIL and Indian Railways, including its zonal railways, at designated interface points. This mechanism enables seamless integration of Dedicated Freight Corridors with the national rail network, ensuring uninterrupted movement of goods.

The record performance highlights DFCCIL’s growing contribution to improving freight efficiency, reducing transit time, and supporting India’s logistics and economic growth objectives.
