Canara Bank Reports 25% Growth in Net Profit at ₹5,254 Crore in Q3 FY26

State-owned Canara Bank has reported a 25 per cent year-on-year growth in consolidated net profit, which rose to ₹5,254 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2025, compared to ₹4,214 crore in the corresponding period last year.

On a standalone basis, the bank’s net profit increased to ₹5,155 crore, up from ₹4,104 crore in the December 2024 quarter, according to regulatory filings.

During the quarter, net interest income (NII) rose marginally by 1.13 per cent to ₹9,252 crore, despite a 13.59 per cent growth in global advances. NII was impacted by a 0.33 percentage point contraction in net interest margin (NIM). In contrast, non-interest income registered a strong growth of 36 per cent, reaching ₹7,900 crore, primarily driven by higher treasury income from the sale of investments.

Loan growth was led largely by the retail segment, with vehicle and auto loans contributing significantly. Overall deposits grew by 12.95 per cent during the quarter, reflecting steady traction across deposit segments.

Asset quality continued to improve, with fresh slippages declining to ₹1,857 crore, compared to ₹2,363 crore in the year-ago quarter and ₹2,061 crore in the preceding quarter. The gross non-performing assets (GNPA) ratio improved to 2.08 per cent, down from 2.35 per cent a year earlier.

Provisions increased by 6.19 per cent to ₹3,964 crore during the quarter. The bank maintained a capital adequacy ratio of 16.50 per cent as of December 31, 2025, underscoring a comfortable capital position.

The financial performance reflects Canara Bank’s focus on balanced growth, improved asset quality, and diversified income streams.
