A stealth frigate of the Indian Navy arrived at Salamis Bay, Greece, on September 13, 2025, as part of its ongoing deployment in the Mediterranean Sea.
Deployment consists of INS Trikand and naval forces of India and Greece, the first bilateral maritime exercise between the two countries.
The journey is first focused on the Indo-Gris maritime exercise, designed to increase mutuality between the two navies, refine strategic skills, and strengthen operating coordination.
INS Trikand reached Salamis Bay on 13 September 2025, determined with the maritime phase of bilateral practice during this port call.
The exercise is being hosted at Salamis Bay, Greece, a strategic maritime center in the Mediterranean region.
The objective of this initiative is to deepen defense cooperation, promote regional maritime security, and promote bilateral relations between India and Greece. The port call also emphasizes India’s commitment to strengthening naval partnership in the Mediterranean Sea.
During the port call in Salamis Bay, INS Trikand will engage in several activities to strengthen cooperation with the Hellenic Navy. These include conversations with senior military officers of Greece, operational plan discussions, and cross-deck tours to share the best practices and cultural exchange with the aim of promoting mutual relations between people.
The trip will conclude in the maritime phase of bilateral maritime exercises, after which the ship will continue the next phase of deployment in the region.
The first bilateral exercise with INS Trikand’s deployment and Greece exposes India’s growing naval reach, underlining its commitment to Europe and outside of Europe and outside the Europe and strategic partnership.
