Prime Minister Inaugurates Bioethanol Plant and Lays Foundation for Polypropylene Unit in Assam 

Prime Minister inaugurated the Assam Bioethanol plant and laid the foundation stone of a Polypropylene unit at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Golaghat, which is an important step towards clean energy, energy security and industrial development in the Northeast.  

These projects were launched by the Prime Minister of India in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Hardeep Singh Puri and many other dignitaries.  

The bamboo bamboo -producing bamboo is inaugurated in NRL. The foundation of the polypropylene unit was laid to promote India’s petrochemical and manufacturing capacity.  

Projects worth Rs 18,000 crore were announced for Assam, including energy, connectivity and healthcare sector. The projects were launched at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Golaghat, Assam, which is a known area for its strategic contribution in India’s energy sector. Promoting clean energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.  

To promote industrial development of Assam and create employment opportunities for farmers, tribal communities and youth.  

Strengthen India’s journey towards self -sufficiency in energy and align with the attitude of self -sufficient India. Bamboo will benefit the local farmers by ensuring an annual investment of about Rs 200 crore in the bamboo feedstock, stable procurement, bamboo peeled units and an annual investment of about Rs 200 crore in the region.  

The polypropylene unit will support the production of plastic, fiber, textiles, automotive parts and medical devices, which will strengthen the “Make in Assam” and “Make in India” campaigns.  

A semiconductor factory is running in Morigaon with an investment of Rs 27,000 crore, which establishes Assam as the center of electronics manufacturing. 

Additional projects include Mission Basundhara for land rights, welfare measures for tea plantation workers, better housing, health care and education infrastructure. India has followed the path of self -sufficiency in energy, searching for new stores through the National deep water exploration mission.  

India is now one of the world’s top five solar power producers, in which renewable capacity is increasing rapidly. Bamboo will bring new income opportunities for ethanol production to farmers and tribal communities. The government is combining the traditional identity of Assam with modern development, including the construction of Maa Kamakhya Corridor for tourism development, from preserving cultural heritage sites such as color homes and Batadrav.  

Shabdsindhu dictionary and support for education in local languages reflect linguistic pride and government’s commitment to inclusion. The inauguration of the bioethanol plant and the foundation of the polypropylene unit is a significant turn in the role of Assam in India’s energy change and industrial development. By mixing clean energy, petrochemicals and semiconductor manufacturing, Assam is being established as a major center for sustainable development, trade and tourism.
