In a major boost to Jharkhand’s industrial and clean energy ambitions, the Naveen Jindal Group has announced plans to invest over ₹70,000 crore in the state across steel, nuclear energy and renewable energy projects. The investment proposal follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Jharkhand.
Announcing the investment, industrialist Naveen Jindal said the proposed projects reflect the group’s long-term commitment to strengthening India’s manufacturing base while accelerating the transition towards clean and sustainable energy.
The group plans to invest ₹40,000 crore in expanding steel manufacturing capacity in Jharkhand. The project is expected to create nearly 10,000 direct jobs while strengthening the state’s manufacturing ecosystem. It is also expected to generate significant business opportunities for MSMEs, downstream industries and local entrepreneurs.
To support India’s growing demand for reliable and clean electricity, the group has proposed an investment of ₹30,000 crore in the nuclear energy sector. The project aims to provide uninterrupted, low-carbon power for industries and support the growth of emerging sectors such as data centres and advanced manufacturing. It is also expected to create highly skilled employment opportunities.
In addition, the company has proposed an investment of ₹650 crore in solar energy projects, reinforcing Jharkhand’s renewable energy goals and contributing to India’s clean energy transition.
According to the company, the combined investments are expected to generate more than 11,000 direct jobs, besides creating thousands of indirect employment opportunities in construction, logistics, manufacturing, services and allied sectors.
