SCOPE and IISD sign a strategic MoU to support India’s sustainable energy transition through renewable energy, ESG, green finance and capacity building.

SCOPE and IISD Partner to Strengthen India’s Energy Transition

The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate the sustainable energy transition of India’s Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The partnership aims to strengthen climate resilience, promote sustainable development and support the country’s low-carbon growth ambitions.

The MoU was signed by Atul Sobti, Director General, SCOPE, and Anne Hammill, Associate Vice-President (Resilience), IISD. The collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both organisations to support India’s clean energy goals through knowledge sharing, research and institutional cooperation.

Partnership to Support Sustainable Development

The SCOPE IISD MoU will focus on strategic dialogue, research collaboration and capacity building in key areas such as renewable energy, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, green finance and a just energy transition.

Under the agreement, both organisations will work together to identify funding opportunities, develop sustainability-focused learning programmes and create practical solutions that help Public Sector Undertakings address evolving decarbonisation priorities. The initiative also seeks to improve access to knowledge resources that can support enterprises in achieving long-term sustainability objectives.

PSUs for PLANET Initiative Already Underway

As part of the collaboration, SCOPE and IISD have already launched PSUs for Practitioners’ Learning and Action Network on Energy Transition (PSUs for PLANET). The platform has been designed to encourage trust-based collaboration among Public Sector Undertakings while addressing common energy transition challenges.

The initiative brings together policymakers, regulators, industry experts and public enterprises to exchange knowledge, share best practices and develop practical solutions. It also considers financial realities and local challenges while promoting sustainable and inclusive growth.

Strengthening India’s Low-Carbon Future

The SCOPE IISD MoU is expected to play an important role in supporting India’s transition towards a cleaner and more resilient economy. By promoting collaboration, innovation and knowledge sharing, the partnership will help Public Sector Undertakings strengthen climate action, improve sustainability practices and contribute to India’s long-term energy transition goals.
