On August 15, 2024, the 78th Independence Day of the nation was celebrated with enthusiasm at the North Central Railway Headquarters in Prayagraj. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by General Manager Shri Upendra Chandra Joshi, followed by an inspection of the parade by the Railway Protection Force, Bharat Scouts and Guides, and St. John Ambulance Brigade.
During the ceremony, the General Manager awarded 23 railway personnel for their outstanding performance. Among the awardees were Shri Chandrashekhar Pandey, Traffic Inspector, and Shri Mithilesh Kumar, Office Superintendent, among others from various departments and divisions.
The celebration featured a cultural program, including group dances and patriotic songs performed by children and staff, under the direction of Mrs. Purnima and others. A display by the Railway Protection Force dog squad and a demonstration of unarmed combat by the RPF women squad were also highlights of the event.
The General Manager extended heartfelt greetings to all North Central Railway employees, their families, and valued customers. In his address, he emphasized the significance of Independence Day as a time to reflect on past achievements and renew the commitment to serving the nation. He highlighted North Central Railway’s contributions to national transport and their commitment to safety, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
He noted that North Central Railway, with its motto “Mobility is Our Hallmark,” plays a crucial role in the Indian Railways system. The zone has achieved significant growth in financial performance, improved passenger services, and enhanced safety measures. The General Manager also discussed ongoing and future projects aimed at improving infrastructure and services, including the preparation for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in 2025.
The celebrations were broadcast online, ensuring accessibility for all railway personnel. The event was attended by the President and members of the North Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organization, Principal Heads of Departments, officers, employees, and their families.
