Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of India’s leading public sector banks, celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great fervor at its headquarters in New Delhi and across its 10,000+ branches nationwide. The celebration was marked by the hoisting of the National Flag by PNB’s MD & CEO, Shri Atul Kumar Goel, who also paid tribute to Shri Lala Lajpat Rai, the freedom fighter and founder of PNB. The event was attended by the bank’s Executive Directors, Chief Vigilance Officer, Chief General Managers, and other senior officials.
In his address, Shri Atul Kumar Goel honored the sacrifices of freedom fighters and highlighted the significance of Independence Day for PNB, given its founding by a prominent freedom fighter. He expressed his gratitude to the bank’s one lakh employees for their dedication and urged them to continue serving the nation by providing top-notch products and services to all, including those in the most remote areas.
Shri Goel also shared key highlights of the bank’s Q1 FY25 financial results, noting PNB’s significant growth across various parameters over the past two and a half years. He announced upcoming initiatives, including Customer Relationship Management solutions, a Digital Business platform, a next-generation call center, and a Corporate Mobile App. He emphasized the bank’s strong capital position and its freedom from non-performing assets (NPAs).
As part of its social responsibility, PNB supported several initiatives, including establishing a therapy center and school for differently-abled children of BSF employees, in collaboration with the BSF Wives Welfare Association. PNB also partnered with NGOs like Adharshila, Sachhi Saheli, and The Earth Saviours Foundation to support educational, health, and environmental initiatives. Additionally, the bank provided infrastructure support to schools and temples in Ujjain and Indore.
Under the PNB Palaash 2.0 initiative, PNB officials, including Shri Goel, participated in a tree plantation drive at Bharat Vandana Park in Delhi, contributing to environmental sustainability.
The Independence Day celebration concluded with the national anthem, an oath ceremony, and cultural performances by the bank staff.
