He was joined by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, and other dignitaries.
In his address, Shri Amit Shah expressed that the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy will become the top police academy in India within five years. He praised the efforts of the Modi Government in making the legacy of Assam’s great warrior, Lachit Barphukan, known across the country. His biography is now available in 23 languages, inspiring people nationwide. The academy, which will be a symbol of peace and development for Assam and the Northeast, has been completed in its first phase with ₹167 crore, and a total of ₹1,050 crore will be spent on all three phases.
Shri Amit Shah highlighted Assam’s transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, with several peace agreements signed and insurgency reduced. He noted that efforts are underway to establish a semiconductor industry worth ₹27,000 crore in the state. Shri Shah also mentioned the successful Advantage Assam 2.0 conference, where MoUs worth ₹5.18 lakh crore were signed, contributing to infrastructure projects worth ₹8 lakh crore, which will create employment opportunities for Assam’s youth.
The Home Minister emphasized the significant rise in Assam’s devolution grants, from ₹1.27 lakh crore to ₹4.49 lakh crore, and spoke about key infrastructure projects such as the Bharatmala project, bridges, and a new AIIMS. He also highlighted welfare programs, including providing tap water, free medical treatment, toilets, and gas cylinders to the poor.
Shri Shah concluded by stating that the Modi government has not only brought peace but has also established the foundations for a prosperous future in Assam, with increasing conviction rates and a focus on citizen rights.
