Under the SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) initiative, GAIL’s Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants in Ranchi and Bengaluru are playing a pivotal role in converting waste into energy. Launched in 2018 by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), the SATAT scheme aims to derive economic value from biomass waste by producing Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) and bio-manure. With India’s plentiful biomass resources, CBG has the potential to foster the development of alternative clean fuels for automotive, industrial, and commercial applications in the coming years.
