Delhi Metro Completes Relocation of Park Street Electric RSS for Central Vista Project

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has successfully completed the relocation and reconstruction of the Park Street Electric Receiving Sub Station (RSS) as part of the Central Vista Project. This milestone ensures uninterrupted power supply to key metro corridors while supporting the upcoming infrastructure in the capital.

Originally built in 2010 to supply the Airport Line and Line‑6 (Violet Line), the Park Street RSS was dismantled in 2021–22 to facilitate the Central Vista construction. Reconstruction commenced in 2023 on alternate land provided by CPWD and was completed in December 2025, accommodating the new Central Vista Metro Line (Indraprastha to R K Ashram Marg) under Phase‑5A expansion.

The upgraded RSS integrates all major electrical equipment, including 66 kV transformers, 66 kV GIS panels, 33 kV panels, and 25 kV GIS panels, with additional feeders for future traction power needs. Advanced features include a Substation Automation System, energy-efficient VRF air-conditioning, LED lighting, and automatic fire protection systems.

Constructed to Green Building standards, the facility has applied for certification and plans to include a solar rooftop system to further reduce its carbon footprint.

This development reflects DMRC’s commitment to modern, safe, and sustainable infrastructure, ensuring reliable power supply for Delhi Metro’s growing network while supporting India’s flagship Central Vista initiative.
