Central Hospital NCR Hosts Successful Voluntary Blood Donation Camp as Part of “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan”

Central Hospital NCR in Prayagraj hosted a voluntary blood donation camp on Friday as part of the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan,” a campaign that promotes women’s health as the foundation of strong families and an empowered society. The event ran from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm in the hospital’s Meeting Hall in collaboration with the ANHA Charitable Blood Centre.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of safe and timely blood donation and to honour individuals who give blood selflessly. Medical Director Dr S K Handoo inaugurated the camp and reinforced the cause by donating blood himself. Addressing participants, he said that each unit of donated blood can save up to four lives because its components—red cells, plasma, platelets and cryoprecipitate—serve different medical needs.

A total of 21 voluntary donations were recorded. Senior medical officers including ACHD Dr Manjulata Handoo, ACHD Dr Mritunjay and ACHD Dr Gautam Sen, along with hospital staff, railway personnel and family members, participated enthusiastically. Donors received refreshments, a memento and a certificate of appreciation.

The camp was presided over by ACHD Dr Kalpana Mishra and ACHD Dr Usha S P Yadav, the nodal officer who played a key role in organising the event. Dr Yadav said the overwhelming participation reflected the deep sense of empathy in the community and highlighted the importance of collective action for public health. Walk-in patients and their families also joined the effort.

In closing remarks, Dr Handoo thanked Dr Usha S P Yadav, Chief Lab Superintendent David Navin Tewari, CLS Sheo Sagar, CNS Jitender Verma and the lab team for their coordination and professionalism, which ensured the camp’s success.

The hospital described the event as a testament to its commitment to community health and social responsibility, reinforcing the message that a healthier woman leads to a stronger family and a more resilient society.
