Delhi has created history by becoming a 35th state/union territory implementing Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). The National Health Authority (NHA) of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (NHA) signed a Memorandum (MOU) with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Delhi.
Not pension scheme, ‘Assurance’ scheme is AB PM-JAY: Mr. J.P. Nadda On this occasion, Union Health Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda said that this scheme is not just an insurance scheme, but a ‘assurance’ scheme, because it is based on faith. He informed that AB PM-JAY covers 50 crore people and this is the first scheme which has been implemented on the basis of economic caste census. He also mentioned that 36 lakh health workers have been brought under this scheme.
36 lakh people will be benefited Mr. Nadda informed that about 30 lakh people and 6 lakh senior citizens of about 6.54 lakh families in Delhi will benefit from this scheme. He said that this scheme will provide free health cover of up to Rs 5 lakh to all senior citizens, whose age is 70 years or more, in which all pre -existing diseases will be covered.
Additional Rs 5 lakh top-up by Delhi government Delhi Health Minister Mrs. Rekha Gupta informed that the Delhi government will provide an additional top-up cover of Rs 5 lakh in addition to the cover of Rs 5 lakh provided by the central government. 6.54 lakh families will benefit under this scheme.
Card distribution starts from April 10 Mrs. Gupta also informed that the card distribution for the beneficiaries under the scheme will be started from 10 April 2025. Along with this, 1,961 health benefits will also be benefited in Delhi, including updated procedures related to 27 medical expertise and better rates.
Ayushman Bharat PM-Jai’s influence The Ayushman Bharat PM-Jai Yojana has brought a revolutionary change in the health sector. So far, the scheme has saved out-of-packet expenses of Rs 1.75 crore. Also, under the scheme, 90% increase in treatment of serious diseases like cancer has been recorded, due to which patients are getting timely treatment.
With the implementation of this scheme, lakhs of citizens in Delhi will get cheap and quality health services. Under the Ayushman Bharat PM-Jai Yojana, the poor and weaker sections of the country are now getting better health services, which is getting rid of medical emergency expenses.
