Oil India Limited (OIL) has achieved a key milestone in strengthening India’s energy infrastructure with the mechanical completion of its Numaligarh–Siliguri Product Pipeline (NSPL) upgradation project. The significant achievement marks a major step forward in OIL’s ongoing efforts to enhance energy transportation and support national energy security.
Upgradation of facilities under the NSPL project will boost the transportation capacity of the existing pipeline from 1.77 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA) to 5.5 MMTPA. This enhanced capacity will enable efficient handling of increased product flow from the Numaligarh Refinery, aligning with India’s growing energy demands.
Accomplishment comes alongside the Numaligarh Refinery Expansion Project (NREP) being implemented by Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), which aims to increase the refinery’s capacity from 3.0 MMTPA to 9.0 MMTPA.
Successful completion of this critical infrastructure milestone reinforces OIL’s dedication to developing robust midstream facilities in the Northeastern region, promoting operational efficiency, and contributing to India’s vision of energy self-reliance.
