The fifth 25 T. Bollard Bridge (BP) Tug Ojas was launched on March 31, 2025 in Messrs TRSL, Kolkata. The chief guest of the event was SSB, Kolkata President Commodore Sanjay Kumar.
These tugs are a part of the contract for the construction of six (06) 25 TBP tugs concluded with Messrs Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), Kolkata on November 12, 2021. These tugs are designed indigenously and are made according to the relevant naval rules and regulation of the Indian Shipping Register (IRS). Shipyard had successfully handed over four of these tugs to the Navy, which is used by the Navy to help naval ships and submarines to help in birth, un-barthing and limited water areas. These tugs will also help vessels in extinguishing fire in the edge or anchor and have the ability to conduct limited search and rescue operations.
These tugs are the glorious flag bearers of the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Self -reliant India’ initiatives.
