The “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign at Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) commenced with a Swachhta Pledge, led by General Manager Shri Sushil Kumar Srivastava. At the reception hall of the administrative building, Srivastava administered the pledge to officials and employees, emphasizing their responsibility to maintain cleanliness with dedication and awareness.
After the pledge, all attendees, including the General Manager, placed hand imprints on a symbolic “Cleanliness Tree” as a commitment to their role in promoting cleanliness. This gesture highlighted collective participation in the campaign. There was significant enthusiasm, particularly among female staff members.
Public Relations Officer Shri Rajesh Kumar highlighted that the theme of SHS 2024 is “Innate Cleanliness, Cultural Cleanliness,” aiming to inspire community participation and collective action for cleanliness across the country. During the campaign, which runs until October 2nd, BLW will host a range of activities, including painting contests, tree planting drives, awareness campaigns, and large human chains involving school students. Additional events such as marathons, cyclothons, and cleanliness-themed competitions will also be organized.
A health camp, cultural performances, and public clean-up drives will take place alongside a variety of awareness programs, including the promotion of the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” concept at the workplace. The campaign will conclude with the recognition and awarding of individuals who demonstrate exceptional contributions to cleanliness.
The Swachhta Pledge ceremony was attended by several senior officials, including Principal Chief Materials Manager Rajneesh Gupta, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer Subroto Nath, Principal Finance Advisor Neeraj Verma, Principal Chief Personnel Officer Janardan Singh, and many other department heads, officers, and employees. The overall program was efficiently led by Subroto Nath, with support from various teams, ensuring the success of the event.
