Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Ms. Bansuri Swaraj, today flagged off two Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) under GAIL (India) Limited’s Project Arogya, a flagship CSR initiative. The event also saw GAIL handing over an advanced life support ambulance to AIIMS, New Delhi.
The flag-off ceremony, attended by GAIL Director (HR) Shri Ayush Gupta, AIIMS Director Dr. M Srinivas, AIIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. Nirupam Madaan, and other officials, marks a significant step toward providing healthcare access to underserved communities.
The MMUs, equipped with qualified medical teams, will offer free primary healthcare services to the underprivileged, delivering medical care and essential medicines directly to those with limited access to public health facilities. These services, which include basic diagnostic tests, the distribution of low-cost sanitary napkins, and health education programs, aim to improve community health while lowering medical expenses for families.
The MMUs are expected to treat around 80 patients per day, following a comprehensive ADCR Formula (Awareness, Diagnosis, Cure, and Referral). They also focus on spreading awareness on health and hygiene through IEC and BCC activities, particularly benefiting the elderly and physically challenged who often struggle to access distant medical facilities.
Alongside the new MMUs, GAIL operates 50 MMUs across 25 districts in 12 states as part of Project Arogya, reinforcing its commitment to healthcare accessibility and social responsibility.
