A commemorative coin marking sixty years of refining operations of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) was released at India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 in Goa, recognising the organisation’s long-standing contribution to India’s energy sector.
The coin was released by Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, in the presence of Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and A. S. Sahney, Chairperson, IndianOil and CPCL.
The occasion was also attended by H. Shankar, Managing Director, CPCL, and S. G. Venkatesh, Director (Technical), CPCL, along with senior officials from the energy sector.
The commemorative release highlighted CPCL’s six-decade journey as a key refining entity, supporting national energy security, industrial growth, and technological advancement. Over the years, CPCL has played a significant role in strengthening India’s downstream petroleum infrastructure through reliable operations, capacity enhancement, and sustained performance.
The milestone celebration at IEW 2026 reaffirmed CPCL’s commitment to operational excellence, safety, and continuous contribution to India’s evolving energy landscape.
