BMW India has unveiled a more robust iteration of its iX electric SUV, dubbed the xDrive 50. With a price tag of Rs 1.40 crore, it surpasses its counterpart, the BMW iX xDrive 40, which retails for Rs. 1.21 crore (ex-showroom). The BMW iX xDrive50 promises an extended range, enhanced performance, and a host of additional features.

Bookings for the BMW iX xDrive50 are now open at all authorized dealerships. The BMW iX SUV, the inaugural electric vehicle from the German marque, made its debut in India in 2021. Initially offered solely in the xDrive40 variant, the new BMW iX xDrive50 model has been introduced to cater to the preferences of automotive enthusiasts. Let’s explore what the latest iteration brings to the table.

In terms of aesthetics, the BMW iX xDrive50 closely resembles the iX xDrive40. The distinctive BMW kidney grille, slender LED headlights with twin-bar LED daytime running lights, and bumper design all remain consistent. However, discerning observers will notice the difference from the side, where the larger 22-inch wheels distinguish this as the more potent variant of the electric SUV. At the rear, the design remains largely unchanged, save for the addition of the XDrive50 badge.

Internally, the new iteration of the BMW iX xDrive50 closely mirrors the xDrive40. It boasts a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch touchscreen, and crystal switches on the center console and doors, among other features. The vehicle also offers advanced driver assistance systems, ventilated front seats, power-adjustable front seats with massage functions, the Harman Kardon Sound system, and a four-zone climate control. However, what sets the iX xDrive50 apart from its counterpart is its adjustable air suspension system, capable of self-leveling and adjusting the suspension as required.

The iX xDrive50 distinguishes itself from the iX xDrive40 primarily in terms of power and performance. While the iX xDrive40 features a 76.6kWh battery and a range of 425 kilometers, the new model boasts an extended WLTP-certified range of 635 kilometers, courtesy of its larger 111.5kWh battery pack.
