‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ organized from 17 September to 02 October 2024 and Swachhata Pakhwada organized from 01 October to 15 October 2024 at Banaras Locomotive Works, concluded with great pomp under the leadership of General Manager Shri Sushil Kumar Srivastava. Presenting his views on this occasion, the General Manager said, “Cleanliness is not just a campaign, it is an important part of our daily routine and the development of society.
Swachhata Hi Seva and Swachhata Pakhwada Abhiyan 2024 have infused new awareness and enthusiasm towards cleanliness in the BARECA campus. These programs gave an opportunity to deeply understand the importance of cleanliness among the employees and local residents.
In his address, the General Manager further said This campaign is an important initiative towards strengthening the Swachh Bharat Mission. We all should consider cleanliness as our responsibility and make it a part of our lives.
Giving details of the major programs of the campaign, the General Manager said that from 17 September to 2 October 2024, under Swachhata Shapath, Hand Painting Swachhata Vriksha: Swachhata Vriksha was created symbolically to promote cleanliness. Under Swachhata Shramdan, Swachhata Jan Awareness Campaign, the message of health and cleanliness was given through street plays and roller skating, cyclothon, marathon, walkathon.
Also, a human chain was formed to increase public awareness towards cleanliness, door-to-door awareness campaign was conducted. Thereafter, under Swachhata Pakhwada from 1 October to 15 October 2024, clean diet, painting competition, essay competition, artworks made of Waste of Art iron scrap were unveiled near BLW East Gate, as well as Waste of Art artwork was kept in the welcome hall of the Administration Building. Under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, a massive plantation program was organized with a plaque dedicated to the mother.
2 October 2024: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a huge mega shramdaan program was held at Manthan Surya Sarovar. Special cleanliness campaign ensured cleanliness by removing old records, unusable material and furniture in the offices. Also, special campaigns were run for cleaning solar panels and toilet drainage systems, public awareness programs were conducted for plastic free living.
In his concluding speech, the General Manager said, “Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan 2024 and Swachhata Pakhwada have infused new awareness and enthusiasm towards cleanliness in the BLW campus. These programs have promoted awareness towards cleanliness among employees, officers and local residents. We should continue this campaign and make cleanliness our priority.
