The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the 2 MTPA pellet plant project and Bhumi Pujan was performed on 26 February 2025 by Shri Sudeep Pal Chaudhary at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). On this occasion, former RSP ED projects Shri PK Sahu, CGM (Projects) Shri Pinaki Chaudhary; CGM (Maintenance) Mr. S.S. Royachowhari; CGM (Electricity Distribution) Mr. D.K. Bharja and RSP, several other senior CET officials and Messrs Orissa Metallix Private Limited and Messrs Rosemary Sponge and Ispat Private Limited were present.
It is noteworthy that the RSP has signed a contract on 14 February 2025 for setting up a 2 MPTA pellet plant in RSP on the basis of “construction, operation and maintenance (COM) on the basis of” construction, operation and maintenance (COM), with the Consortium of Messrs Orissa Metallix Private Limited and Messrs Rosemary Sponge and Steel Private Private Limited.
The 2 MTPA pellet plant is an important step towards strengthening the production capabilities of RSP and increasing operational efficiency.
The project is to be completed within 24 months from the effective date of signature. The contract includes 20 years of operation and maintenance (O&M) period, which provides for extending it for additional five years on mutually agreed terms and conditions. The overall advisory for the project is CET, while PWC has been appointed as the concerned advisor.
