In line with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, BEML Ltd. has been honoured with the prestigious “Self-Certification” status for its defence equipment by the Department of Defence Production (DDP), Government of India. The certification was presented by Shri RA Govardhana, ADGQA (V&EE), HQ DQAV, to Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman & Managing Director of BEML Ltd., at the company’s headquarters, in the presence of the DGQA, BEML’s functional directors, and the Head of Quality.
Self-certification is a significant recognition from the DDP, granting manufacturers the responsibility to certify the quality of their products directly. This status reflects BEML’s consistent ability to meet rigorous quality standards and manufacture defect-free defence products.
BEML has been awarded a three-year “Self-Certification” status covering 842 defence stores, enabling direct delivery of products without third-party inspections. This accomplishment underscores the Government’s confidence in BEML’s manufacturing excellence, backed by a Supplier Rating exceeding 90% and ISO 9001:2015 QMS compliance.
A key player in India’s defence sector since the 1980s, BEML has produced a wide range of vital equipment, including rocket and missile launchers, ARRVs, high-mobility vehicles, and UAVs. The company has achieved 100% indigenization of key platforms, such as the Pontoon Bridge System and Aircraft Towing Tractor, setting new benchmarks in self-reliant manufacturing.
BEML’s global footprint includes over 1,200 units exported to 68 countries, solidifying its reputation as a leader in defence innovation and contributing to India’s global standing for quality in the defence sector.
