National Energy Conservation Day Celebrated with Awards and Recognition for Outstanding Contributions
On National Energy Conservation Day 2024, Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar and Minister of State for Power & NRE, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, attended a grand ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, to honor winners of the National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2024 and present the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) to various sectors excelling in energy efficiency.
- Vice President’s Address:
The Vice President emphasized the importance of optimal energy utilization, highlighting the finite nature of resources and the need for responsible energy consumption. He praised innovation in renewable energy sources and stressed the collective responsibility of conserving energy for future generations. - Minister of State’s Remarks:
Shri Shripad Yesso Naik applauded India’s inclusive energy efficiency efforts, acknowledging programs like PAT, S&L, and UJALA for contributing to significant energy savings. He also discussed the 2022 Energy Conservation Act and its impact on integrating renewable energy in large residential buildings and strengthening carbon markets. - Recognition of Energy Efficiency Achievements:
The NECA 2024 awards recognized sectors including industries, transport, buildings, institutions, and appliances for their efforts in reducing energy consumption. A total of 752 applications were received, with awards distributed across multiple categories. - National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2024:
The competition, a platform to inspire youth engagement in energy conservation, saw over 80 lakh students participating. Winners were awarded prizes and recognized for their commitment to a sustainable future.
- NECA 2024: Recognizes outstanding efforts in energy conservation and efficiency across multiple sectors, with 23 first prizes, 19 second prizes, and 4 innovation awards.
- National Painting Competition: Engages students from 5th to 10th grades in spreading awareness about energy conservation. Top winners receive cash prizes, laptops/tablets, and study tour opportunities.
This event highlighted the collective commitment of India to advancing energy efficiency, ensuring a sustainable and secure energy future.
