In a major step towards digital empowerment of farmers, Union Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh today launched the Kapas Kisan app, a farmer-centric mobile application developed by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) under the Ministry of Textiles. The app aims to streamline Minimum Support Price (MSP) cotton procurements by making the process more transparent, fair, and efficient.
The Kapas Kisan app was formally launched in New Delhi as part of the government’s continued push for Digital India. The app enables farmers to self-register, book procurement slots, and track their payments digitally — minimizing paperwork and delays.
The initiative has been spearheaded by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) with full support from the Ministry of Textiles. Launching the app, Union Minister Shri Giriraj Singh highlighted that the move ensures a farmer-first approach, preventing distress sales and guaranteeing timely MSP operations.
Cotton farmers across India often face challenges of delayed procurement, manual paperwork, and lack of payment clarity. With the Kapas Kisan app, farmers will now experience greater ease, efficiency, and transparency in selling their produce under MSP. Shri Giriraj Singh said, “By digitizing key steps — from registration to payment tracking — we are protecting cotton growers and reinforcing our commitment to a transparent and inclusive cotton procurement system.”
The app was launched in New Delhi on September 2, 2025, and will be made available to cotton farmers nationwide ahead of the next procurement cycle.
The Kapas Kisan app comes with multiple farmer-friendly features:
- Secure self-registration for MSP cotton procurement.
- Digital slot booking at procurement centres to reduce waiting time and crowding.
- Real-time updates on quality assessment, accepted quantities, and payment status.
- Multi-language support for wider accessibility across cotton-growing regions.
- Payment tracking facility to ensure timely and transparent transactions.
The Union Minister underlined that the initiative would not only reduce paperwork but also save farmers’ time, improve planning through scheduled slots, and most importantly, safeguard farmers against distress sales. By integrating technology, the Kapas Kisan app is expected to enhance farmer empowerment, strengthen India’s MSP framework, and accelerate the vision of a digitally inclusive rural economy.
