The North Eastern Frontier Railway (NFR) has achieved an important milestone with a successful commission of New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Trip Side Siding, marking strategic upgrades for one of the busiest railway centers in the Northeast.
The commissioning, which included the change of 59 routes, has increased the total number of routes to 480 in NJP, which has increased the flexibility of the movement of the train. This upgrade is expected to reduce congestion, improve time ban and to streamline traffic management at important junctions.
As part of this non-interlocking (NI) work, the clear standing length (CSL) of line number 4 has been extended to the entire length. This growth will allow the station to accommodate long trains, ensure smooth shunting operations and facilitate better yard management.
The project was completed in a very short time due to temporary cancellation and diversion of trains in NJP. Railway officials said that these adjustments were necessary to securely make the road change and yard improvement safely.
With the completion of this upgradation, the New Jalpaiguri station is now better prepared to handle the current and future development in both passenger and freight. The station acts as the entrance to the northeast, which handles several long -distance express trains, local passenger services and heavy freight.
Officials insisted that the benefits of development of this infrastructure include increase in operational efficiency, increase maintenance capacity, improvement of time ban and readiness for future expansion. This step is part of NFR’s major commitment to strengthen the infrastructure of the railway and promote economic connectivity in the region.
