Vantara, Gujarat Forest Department Reintroduce Spotted Deer to Enrich Barda Wildlife SanctuaryIn an important step towards wildlife protection and restoration of biodiversity, Gujarat Forest Department, in collaboration with Ventara – a major wildlife rescue and protection initiative established by Anant Ambani – has successfully converted 33 spotted deer (Axis Axis) to Barda Wildlife Elite.
Spotted deer, also known as Chail, was translated from Vantara’s east-Seitu protection facility in Jamnagar. He was taken carefully to the specially designed ambulance and was released under the supervision of forest department officials after confirming the ecological suitability and readiness of support systems within the sanctuary.
Ventara provided technical and logical assistance, which ensures complete compliance with the established Wildlife Conservation Protocol. This collaborative effort is a milestone in restoring native species to their natural habitat.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bridge Kishore Gupta, Director, Greens Zoological, Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, said:
“This initiative is an important step to restore and enrich the biodiversity of the Wildlife Sanctuary. Spotted deer historically resided in this scenario, and their scientifically directed rebuilding is not only ecological, but also a symbol of a compatible vision for habitat revitalization.”
The reproduction is expected to strengthen the ecological balance of the sanctuary, which is the home of several species of flora and fauna, thereby strengthening the ongoing efforts in Gujarat’s permanent wildlife management and housing conservation.
