He discovered laboratories, praised the Moon Mission of India, shared zero gravity experiences during PM Shri School visit
Former NASA astronaut Mr. Mike Macemino interacted with the students of PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya in New Delhi today. Mr. Massimino also discovered the facilities of the school including AR-VR lab, Atal Tinkering Lab, Language Laboratory etc.
Talking to the students, Mr. Massimino praised India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission, emphasizing its importance not only for India but also for the global space community. He highlighted the challenges of the moon landing on the southern pole and explained how this achievement can provide important information about the water sources required for the residence. Additionally, he outlined the importance of international cooperation in future space programs.
Mr. Massimino explained how a film based on 7 astronauts inspired him to become astronauts. Talking to the students, he answered his questions about space exploration, food they eaten during space travel, etc. Recalling his personal experiences, he explained how he raised the space in space with zero gravity and explained in detail about their sleeping arrangements, console to work, etc. Students were also keen on the role of AI in space exploration.
In response, he stated that AI would streamline procedures, make them more efficient, cost effective and safe. Ending his conversation, he advised the students about the subjects and skills that they should adopt when they have a desire to make a career in space exploration.
During the program, the students asked several questions about the challenges of making a career as an astronaut and the major themes required for their preparation. Shri Massimino emphasized the importance of discovery of various fields including soil science and marine biology. His practical and practical answers inspired the students excited and deeply. He also asked him about the most challenging project he worked in NASA and will human habitat be possible on Mars in the near future. He said that living on the moon can soon become a reality, but it will still take more time to settle on Mars, which still need to be removed.
