Indian Navy marked another milestone with the launch of the eleventh Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge, LSAM 25 (Yard 135) on September 8, 2025, at M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane. The ceremony was graced by Rear Admiral Vishal Bishnoi, Assistant Chief of Materiel (Weapons & Armament).
launch is part of a contract signed in March 2021 for the construction of eleven ACTCM Barges by Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, a Thane-based MSME shipyard. Of these, ten barges have already been delivered and are being effectively deployed by the Indian Navy for various operational tasks.
ACTCM Barges play a crucial role in supporting the Navy’s logistics and operational readiness, enabling the safe transportation of ammunition, torpedoes, and missiles. Their induction strengthens India’s maritime capabilities and supports the long-term vision of self-reliance in defence.
The barge has been indigenously designed and constructed in collaboration with an Indian ship design firm and certified by the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). To ensure seaworthiness, model testing was carried out at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam.
With LSAM 25 now launched, the project highlights the success of the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, demonstrating how Indian MSMEs are contributing to national defence manufacturing.
