After days of rain and storms, India’s weather is making a dramatic shift — and not for the better. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for several states, with temperatures expected to rise by 3 to 6 degrees Celsius over the next 4-5 days across Northwest, Central, and Eastern India.
The brief respite from summer heat, courtesy of back-to-back Western Disturbances in the first week of April, is now over. As those weather systems have weakened and moved on, the skies are clearing rapidly — and temperatures are climbing fast.
STATE-BY-STATE FORECAST (April 13, 2026):
🔴 DELHI-NCR: Hot and sunny. Strong winds and dust possible. Max temp expected: 35-37°C
🔴 UTTAR PRADESH: ‘Loo’ (hot dry wind) alert for several districts. Stay hydrated.
🔴 BIHAR: Heatwave warning. Extreme caution advised for elderly and children.
🔴 RAJASTHAN: Severe heat conditions developing.
🟡 HIMACHAL PRADESH: Rain and snowfall in higher altitudes, pleasant in lower areas.
🟡 UTTARAKHAND: Snowfall continues in peaks, mild rain in valleys.
🟢 NORTHEAST INDIA: Heavy rain expected between April 14-18.
IMD SAFETY TIPS FOR HEATWAVE:
✅ Drink plenty of water — at least 3-4 litres per day
✅ Avoid going outside between 12 PM and 4 PM
✅ Wear light, loose cotton clothing
✅ Keep elderly and young children indoors
✅ Never leave anyone in a parked car
