Indian Institute of Management Jammu (IIM Jammu) successfully hosted the Pune Roundtable Conference at Hotel Blue Diamond, Pune, bringing together policymakers, academics, and industry leaders to foster collaboration between academia and industry, address workforce evolution, and explore technology-driven solutions for future-ready education.
The conference was inaugurated by Padmashri Dr. Milind P. Kamble, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, and Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, alongside distinguished industry and academic dignitaries. The event commenced with registration, a ceremonial lamp-lighting, and an introductory video on IIM Jammu.
In his address, Padmashri Dr. Kamble emphasized the need for purposeful collaboration to co-create innovative, inclusive, and sustainable solutions aligning education with economic and societal needs. He highlighted pressing areas such as climate change, digital transformation, and equitable growth, urging academia and industry to work together for a Viksit Bharat 2047.
Prof. B.S. Sahay underscored IIM Jammu’s commitment to integrating academic excellence with practical exposure through industry linkages. He highlighted initiatives such as Project YUVA, promoting employment and entrepreneurship, and emphasized the institute’s achievement of BGA Institutional Accreditation and EFMD Programme Accreditation, positioning IIM Jammu among the top five IIMs nationally.
The conference featured three engaging panel discussions:
- Shaping the Leaders of Tomorrow: What Industry Looks for in Young Talent – Moderated by Ms. Sfurti Patkar, Head of Strategy, Mercedes Benz, with industry experts from Siemens, Varian, Synechron, Vodafone Intelligent Systems, Belrise Industries, FORVIA, Cummins Inc., and Startek.
- The Power of Networking: How Industry Interactions Can Open Doors – Moderated by Mr. Vikram Jeet Bhayana, Associate Senior VP, Bajaj Allianz, featuring leaders from Leoni Wiring Systems, Ringfeder, Belrise Industries, Icertis, NCS Group, Tata Motors, EY, A & M, and Zywave.
- Learning Beyond Books: Role of Industry to Make Education More Practical – Moderated by Mr. Sudhanshu Tripathi, CMO & Head ESG, Quick Heal, with panellists from ECOMES, Rheinmetall, Marsh McLennan, Fulcrum Digital, TCS, UBS, Premium Transmission Ltd., Mastercard, Cummins India, and Umicore.
The discussions explored the skills, networking, and experiential learning required for students to thrive in a rapidly evolving corporate landscape, highlighting actionable strategies for academia-industry engagement.
The event concluded with the National Anthem, leaving participants with renewed impetus to strengthen collaborations that shape future-ready education and professional development.
