Under the auspices of Vinoba Bhave University, K.B. Women’s College successfully organized the Inter-College Women’s Cross Country 2024 on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Female students from various colleges participated enthusiastically in this race.
Ayesha Kumari from Jubilee College, Bhurkunda, gave an outstanding performance and secured the first position. Shruti Toppo from Kolamba College claimed second place, while Manju Kumari from K.B. Women’s College brought pride to her college by finishing in third place.
The cross-country race commenced at 6 a.m. from the main gate of K.B. Women’s College, where the race was flagged off by university and college officials. The participants ran up to Jail Mod and returned to the college campus. The event was organized in a highly disciplined and systematic manner.
The event was led by Dr. Mukul Kumar, who served as the organizing secretary of the competition. The stage was effectively managed by Aditi Kushwaha, who hosted the program smoothly.
After the competition, a prize distribution ceremony was held. The principal of K.B. Women’s College emphasized the importance of sports and physical fitness in his address, stating, “Such sports competitions greatly contribute to the overall development of students. Our students have performed excellently in this race through their hard work and dedication. I congratulate the winners and appreciate all the participants who took part.”
Vinoba Bhave University’s Director of Sports, Dr. Rakho Hari, encouraged the students, saying, “Sports help develop discipline, hard work, and team spirit in life. Participation in sports is beneficial for both mental and physical health. These competitions provide an opportunity to discover new talents.”
Dean of Students’ Welfare, Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Singh, remarked, “Both sports and education are equally important in life. All the participants in this competition have demonstrated sportsmanship and teamwork, which are invaluable in life. I congratulate all the participants for their hard work.”
The race was inaugurated by Syndicate Member Sarendra Kumar Sinha with the green flag. Key officials present included Ramesh Singh, Mithilesh Singh, Ashok Kumar, Anwar Hussain, and Deepak Kumar, who played an essential role in ensuring the event’s success.
At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Mukul Kumar extended a vote of thanks, stating, “This event is a moment of pride for our college. I would like to thank all the guests, officials, and participants for their significant contributions to the event. This competition has promoted sportsmanship and fitness awareness among the students.”
Honor for the Winners
Based on the points tally, Jubilee College, Bhurkunda emerged as the champion, while there was a tie for the runner-up position, which went to J.J. College, Koderma, and K.B. Women’s College. The winners were specially honored during the ceremony.
Selection for All India University Cross Country
The top six students from this competition were selected for the All India University Cross Country team.
The audience and participants praised the successful event, expressing a desire for similar events in the future. This cross-country race infused everyone with new energy and enthusiasm for sports.
