BSF HONORS 56 PERSONNEL WITH MEDALS ON 78TH INDEPENDENCE DAY.

On the 78th Independence Day, the Border Security Force (BSF) has recognized the valor and service of 56 personnel with various awards:

• 6 Medals for Gallantry
• 4 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service
• 46 Medals for Meritorious Service

Gallantry Medals (6)

1. Late SI (GD) Mahendra Singh (Posthumous)
   • Regt No. 133305201
   • Citation: Led a team during a Chhattisgarh operation on 10 November 2018, engaging Maoists despite severe injuries. His bravery ensured the safety of his team before he succumbed to his wounds.
2. HC (GD) Narbhu Sherpa
   • Regt No. 951400968
   • Citation: On 20 April 2023, during an ambush, he defended himself and his team despite being outnumbered and injured, capturing one miscreant.
3. HC (GD) Mukesh Chand
   • Regt No. 951400603
   • Citation: On 18 February 2023, he pursued and captured a smuggler despite being shot, showing exceptional bravery.
4. Late CT (GD) Ranjit Yadav (Posthumous)
   • Regt No. 082010906
   • Citation: During an ethnic clash in Manipur on 6 June 2023, he fought valiantly under heavy fire before succumbing to his injuries.
5. Sh Ashok Kumar, AC
   • IRLA No. 41321256
   • Citation: Displayed leadership and bravery on 28 May 2023 during an armed attack in Manipur, despite being injured.
6. Late CT Narender Kumar (Posthumous)
   • Regt No. 120614905
   • Citation: In the same attack on 28 May 2023, he fought bravely and was fatally injured while protecting his team.
