Oil India Limited (OIL) and GAIL (India) Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration across the natural gas value chain. The strategic partnership between the two Maharatna enterprises aims to monetise OIL’s incremental gas production by leveraging GAIL’s expansive transmission and marketing network, ensuring wider access to demand centres across India.
MoU was executed in the presence of senior leadership from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, including the Secretary, Additional Secretary, and Joint Secretary (Gas Production), alongside top officials from OIL and GAIL.
According to the agreement, both companies will work closely to unlock synergies in upstream development, natural gas marketing, liquefied natural gas (LNG), city gas distribution (CGD), compressed biogas (CBG), and emerging clean energy opportunities.
Highlighting the significance of the collaboration, OIL and GAIL emphasised that the partnership will not only expand energy accessibility but also accelerate India’s vision of transitioning into a gas-based economy. By combining resources and expertise, the two Maharatna PSUs aim to foster energy security, enhance sustainability, and support the nation’s low-carbon growth agenda.
The MoU marks a major step towards building an integrated and future-ready natural gas ecosystem, reflecting the government’s broader commitment to clean energy and inclusive development.
