GAIL (India) Limited announced that construction of the 1,707 km Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda Pipeline (MNJPL), a key component of the National Gas Grid, is in the final phase and full commissioning is expected by 31 December 2025.
The high-impact project, developed under the Government of India’s PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, will supply natural gas across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha, ensuring clean fuel availability for city gas distribution networks and diverse industrial consumers.
GAIL confirmed that pipeline construction is complete in Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh, while Maharashtra is in the last stage with only 11 km pending. Of the total stretch, 1,440 km is already ready for gas-in, reinforcing the company’s steady progress toward timely commissioning.
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board has identified 17 geographical areas covering 60 districts along the MNJPL route, enabling widespread access to reliable natural gas infrastructure. Once operational, the pipeline will strengthen energy security, lower carbon emissions, and support India’s transition to a cleaner energy economy.
