Union Minister Unveils ₹645 Crore Development Push in Nagaland at Hornbill Festival

Union Minister of Communications and DoNER participated in the traditional Naga stone-pulling ceremony at Tuophema Village during the Hornbill Festival and unveiled a major development package worth over ₹645 crore, aimed at boosting infrastructure, healthcare, education, and innovation across the state.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated completed projects totaling over ₹202 crore and laid the foundation for new initiatives worth around ₹443 crore. These projects cover key sectors including health, roads, power, education, sports, and innovation infrastructure.

Development package reinforces the Government of India’s focus on strategic connectivity and socio-economic growth in the Northeast under Prime Minister Modi’s Act East Policy. The initiatives aim to enhance healthcare access, improve transport networks, strengthen ICT infrastructure in schools, and promote youth-driven innovation.

Key completed projects include the 132 kV Sub-Station upgrade in Dimapur, teachers’ training and exam centre, ICT facilities across 190 schools, and major road upgrades. New projects include multispecialty hospitals in Chümoukedima and Peren, Kohima Sports Centre, Nagaland Innovation Hub, small hydro power plants, and significant road and airport connectivity projects.

The Minister highlighted the role of Nagaland’s young population in driving the state’s development and emphasized close coordination with the Chief Minister to advance further projects, ensuring sustainable growth and transformative progress across the region.
