Union Minister of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, highlighted the Government’s 100-day accomplishments in a press conference held today at Udyog Bhawan. Accompanied by Secretary of MSME Shri S.C.L. Das and other senior officials, the Minister outlined a series of initiatives aimed at invigorating the MSME sector.
During his address on August 15, 2024, marking the 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the Government’s dedication to sustainability, innovation, and improving the ease of doing business for MSMEs. This commitment is part of a broader national vision to position India as a global leader.
Over the past 100 days, several key initiatives have been rolled out to boost MSME growth, foster entrepreneurship, and create job opportunities. Notable achievements include:
- Formalization Drive: Agreements with Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh have accelerated the integration of informal MSMEs into the formal economy, with over 5 crore MSME registrations on the Udyam Registration and Udyam Assist Platforms (UAP), benefiting approximately 21 crore individuals through job creation.
- Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP): In the last 10 years, PMEGP has provided employment to over 55 lakh people, with 26,426 new micro enterprises established and ₹3,148 crore in loans disbursed in the past 100 days alone.
- Support for North-Eastern Region: Approval of 12 infrastructure projects in the North-East, including new Technology Centres and industrial estate redevelopment, aims to create 2,290 job opportunities and stimulate economic growth.
- Yashasvini Campaign: Launched on June 27, 2024, this campaign promotes women entrepreneurs with support in finance, training, and market linkages. The initiative aims to impact one lakh women through 17 planned campaigns.
- Enhanced CGTMSE Scheme: The introduction of increased credit guarantees and reduced fees for women-owned MSMEs under the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) is expected to benefit 27 lakh women-led MSMEs.
- TEAM Scheme for Marketing Support: This new scheme under the RAMP Programme supports MSMEs in digital marketing and e-commerce, with 150 workshops planned and initial sessions conducted in Pune and Ranchi.
- New Technology Centres: Fourteen state-of-the-art Technology Centres will be established across various states with an investment of ₹2,800 crore, providing advanced manufacturing technologies and training for 1,00,000 MSMEs and 3,00,000 youth.
- ZED 2.0 Certification Scheme: Launched to promote Zero Defect, Zero Effect manufacturing, the ZED 2.0 scheme will support 5 lakh MSMEs in achieving higher quality standards and sustainability practices.
- MSME Hackathon 4.0: This initiative encourages innovation with financial support up to ₹15 lakh per idea, focusing on traditional trades, green energy, and export enhancement, benefiting 500 innovators.
- New Technology Centre at Bokaro: The foundation stone was laid for a new Technology Centre in Bokaro with a ₹198 crore investment, aimed at providing technological support and training for 8,000 MSMEs and 22,000 youth.
- Centre for Rural Enterprise Acceleration through Technology (CREATE): Operationalized at Leh, CREATE focuses on enhancing local productivity in pashmina wool processing and essential oil extraction, with a focus on sustainability and artisan empowerment.
- MoU with US Small Business Administration (US-SBA): Signed on August 13, 2024, this agreement promotes bilateral cooperation on green technology and women entrepreneurs, with plans for joint webinars and capacity-building efforts.
These achievements underscore the Government of India’s dedication to sustainable MSME growth, innovation, and job creation.
