Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Addresses Centenary Year Ceremony of Gayatri Parivar in Haridwar

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah today addressed the “Centenary Year Ceremony – 2026” organised by the Gayatri Parivar in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on the occasion of the birth centenary of Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma Ji and the centenary year of the Akhand Deep. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Amit Shah said that Haridwar represents the confluence of faith, spirituality and culture. He remarked that by attending the Akhand Jyoti Conference, he was experiencing a sense of unbroken energy and consciousness. He stated that the solution to many global challenges lies within the Indian tradition, and the spiritual reconstruction of India would benefit the entire world.

The Home Minister highlighted the vision of Pandit Shri Ram Sharma Acharya, who envisioned a journey from individual transformation to nation-building and ultimately to the creation of a new era. Referring to the slogan “Hum Badlenge, Yug Badlega” (We will change, the era will change), Shri Shah said that the message gave the nation a renewed sense of direction and resolve. He emphasised that the Gayatri Mantra, with its 24 syllables, nurtures virtues such as altruism, courage and intellect, and brings harmony between spirituality and scientific thought.

Shri Amit Shah noted that the period 1925–26 marked a phase of national resurgence, witnessing the establishment of institutions like the RSS, Gita Press and Akhand Jyoti. He also underlined that tradition and progress can move together, citing the example of children in the Gayatri Parivar holding the Vedas in one hand and technology in the other.
