The Center for Cellular and Molecular platform (C-C-pamp) under the initiative of ‘Effective innovation of intensive scientific discoveries for India for India’ office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA), Government of India, to two bio-products, aphidcontrol and zethocontrol, PI Industries Limited successfully shifted.
This transfer is part of the ‘Discovery to Innovation Accelerator’ (DIA) program, which is supported by the PSA office and the waiting trust. The purpose of these products is to reduce the loss caused by pests and diseases in crops, which causes about 10-35% annual loss in India.
Aphidcontrol is a biological pesticides, which is effective against aphids, while Zantocontrol is a biocontrol agent, which helps in dealing with diseases caused by zantomonous bacteria. Both these products offer environmentally safe options for synthetic pesticides.
On this occasion, Professor A.K. Sood and Dr. Chris Gopalakrishnan appreciated these innovations and threw light on the importance of their contribution to the agricultural sector. Dr. Parvinder Maini praised C-Camp’s efforts and described these products as an important step for sustainable agriculture.
The program was attended by representatives of PSA Office, C-C-Pamp, PI Industries, CSIR Institute, DBT and Waiting Trust, which is an important step towards implementing research-based solutions in the agriculture sector.
