Ministry of Panchayati Raj will launch “Sashakt Panchayat-Netri Abhiyan” on 4th March 2025 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Union Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Annapurna Devi and other senior officials and over 1,200 women elected representatives from Panchayati Raj Institutions across India will be present on the occasion.
The Abhiyan aims to strengthen the leadership capacity of women representatives in rural governance through active participation and decision making in local governance. Launched a few days ahead of International Women’s Day, the initiative aims to empower women leaders through focused training including a brief overview of laws dealing with violence against women.
State Capacity will be one of the main events of the celebrations, in which outstanding women leaders of Panchayats who have made exceptional contributions to local governance will be felicitated. The panel discussion will discuss important issues of women leadership in Panchayati Raj Institutions and women-led sectoral interventions in health, education, security and digitalisation.
The national workshop is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering ‘Nari Shakti’ for nation building and reflects the Government’s commitment to making Gram Panchayats safer, more inclusive and gender-sensitive. The event will also feature cultural performances celebrating the achievements of women, adding a distinct cultural touch to the proceedings.
This important initiative is a testimony to the Government’s commitment regarding equal rights for all talented women.
