Shri Saloma Yomdo, Director (E&D), Oil India Limited, participated in a panel discussion titled “Geoscience towards Energy Independence” at #GEOINDIA2024.
During the session, Shri Yomdo emphasized the crucial role of geoscience in enhancing India’s fossil fuel sector. He stressed the need for aggressive exploration campaigns, a goal that Oil India Limited is actively pursuing through the OALP bid rounds.
In light of climate concerns, Shri Yomdo also highlighted the importance of carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon capture utilization (CCUS) technologies. He discussed the need for source-to-sink mapping to identify viable projects for carbon capture and storage.
Additionally, Shri Yomdo called for an acceleration of geothermal exploration and the development of critical minerals to strengthen India’s energy security and reduce dependency on imports.
