Ahmedabad: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), India’s energy Maharatna public sector enterprise, has organised two specialised knowledge-exchange programmes for professionals from PetroVietnam through its Institute of Reservoir Studies (IRS) in Ahmedabad.
The programmes build on the longstanding energy partnership between India and Vietnam, providing a platform for technical learning, sharing industry expertise and exploring opportunities for greater cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
Focus on Reservoir Management and Production Enhancement
One of the programmes focused on Reservoir Management and Production Enhancement, covering technical aspects of reservoir operations and ways to improve production efficiency.
Sessions combined technical discussions with laboratory exposure and field visits, allowing participants to gain practical insights into relevant technologies and operational practices.
Effective reservoir management plays an important role in maximising the recovery of oil and gas resources. Sharing technical knowledge and operational experience can help energy professionals explore ways to improve resource utilisation and production performance.
Knowledge Exchange on Field Development Planning
Second programme covered Declaration of Commerciality (DoC) and Field Development Plan (FDP) – Reserve to Revenue.
It focused on the processes involved in assessing the commercial viability of hydrocarbon discoveries and planning their development for potential revenue generation. Technical discussions, laboratory exposure and field visits formed part of the learning programme.
The initiative provided PetroVietnam professionals with opportunities to exchange knowledge and understand technical approaches related to field development and the commercial utilisation of hydrocarbon reserves.
Strengthening India-Vietnam Energy Cooperation
Programmes further reinforced the longstanding association between ONGC, its overseas investment arm ONGC Videsh, and PetroVietnam.
Knowledge-sharing initiatives of this nature can support professional development, encourage innovation and create opportunities for collaboration between energy-sector organisations.
As India and Vietnam continue to engage in the energy sector, technical cooperation and the exchange of industry expertise remain important elements of their broader partnership.
Through its Institute of Reservoir Studies, ONGC continues to contribute to technical learning and international knowledge exchange, supporting efforts to strengthen energy cooperation and develop expertise in the oil and gas industry.
