Union Home Minister and Cooperative Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the workshop on stability and circular in the dairy region on March 3, 2025 in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Conducted by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy (DAHD), the program was brought together in the program, including Union Ministers, Officers and Representatives of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), NABARD and other major industry leaders.
The workshop marked several major developments for the stability of the dairy region. The MoU was signed to set up a biogas plant between 26 milk unions in NDDB and 15 states, pushing efforts to adopt circular economy practices in dairy farming. In addition, comprehensive guidelines for stability in the region were issued, as well as the NDDB’s Sustain Plus project to support small and large -scale biogas initiatives.
In his address, Shri Amit Shah emphasized the importance of stability and cyclicity, as India’s white revolution 2.0. He highlighted that dairy farming can be a major route of prosperity for small farmers, which can help resolve rural migration issues. The Union Cooperation Minister insisted that it is important to integrate continuous practices and cyclical economy principles for the future of India’s dairy region.
Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh said that using cow dung for biofuels and organic fertilizers can increase farmers’ income. He underlined the need for innovation and public-private participation for promoting green development and upliftment of farmers.
DAHD Secretary Smt. Alka Upadhyay spoke about the government’s efforts to support India’s leadership and sustainable practices in dairy production. He referred to the new financing scheme with an allocation of Rs 1,000 crore to support biogas and fertilizer management projects.
The program provided a platform to discuss policy framework, financial mechanisms and successful cyclical economy models, such as Zakariapura, Banas and Varanasi models, showcasing cow dung as a valuable resource.
