PFC Approves ₹6,680.70 Crore Funding for Chhattisgarh East–West Rail Corridor

Power Finance Corporation (PFC) has sanctioned ₹6,680.70 crore in financial assistance to Chhattisgarh East West Railway Limited (CEWRL) to develop the East–West Rail Corridor Project aimed at boosting coal transportation and strengthening India’s rail network.

The loan agreement was signed at PFC’s headquarters in the presence of senior leadership from both organisations, marking a major step toward accelerating coal evacuation and supporting the nation’s energy supply chain.

The East–West Rail Corridor is a critical infrastructure initiative designed to move coal efficiently from the mining regions of Chhattisgarh to power plants across the country, reducing logistics costs and improving turnaround times.

PFC executives, including Director (Projects) R. R. Jha, Executive Directors H. K. Das, V. Packirisamy and Praveen Verma, and Chief General Managers Nitin Kumar and Ranjay Choudhary, joined CEWRL Chief Financial Officer Priyanka Tanna to formalise the agreement.

With this funding, PFC reinforces its commitment to sustainable energy infrastructure, efficient rail connectivity, and reliable coal transportation, ensuring stronger support for India’s growing power demands.
