Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has successfully established Mori-5 well control within a record time of five days, marking a major operational milestone in emergency response and well-control management.
The incident occurred on 5 January 2026 during service operations at the Mori-5 well, being carried out by a PEC contractor. ONGC immediately activated its internal crisis management framework, mobilising specialised teams, equipment and safety resources to contain the situation swiftly and securely.
The capping operation was completed without incident, demonstrating effective coordination, technical preparedness and adherence to safety protocols. With well control now established, this release serves as the final official communication on the Mori-5 incident, formally concluding all field-level operational updates.
ONGC expressed appreciation for the support extended by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, along with state, district and local administrations, whose cooperation played a key role in the timely resolution of the operation. The corporation also acknowledged the continued on-site presence and engagement of the elected representative from Amlapuram, which provided reassurance during critical phases of the response.
The organisation further recognised the contribution of the elected representative from Razole and the district administration of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema District, including senior administrative and police leadership, for sustained coordination and on-ground facilitation throughout the operation.
