Oil India Limited and IIT Kharagpur Sign MoU to Establish Compressed Biogas Plant at IEW 2026

Oil India Limited (OIL) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 to collaborate on the establishment of a Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant, marking a significant step towards sustainable urban development and clean energy generation.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Brajesh Dubey, Dean of Campus & Community Development, IIT Kharagpur, and Shri Ranjan Goswami, Executive Director (Business Development), Oil India Limited, in the presence of senior officials and dignitaries from both institutions at the prestigious energy forum.

The proposed collaboration aims to leverage organic waste generated on the IIT Kharagpur campus to produce CBG, promoting circular economy principles and waste-to-wealth solutions. The initiative is envisioned to transform the IIT Kharagpur campus into a national model for sustainable waste management and renewable energy integration.

The partnership reflects Oil India Limited’s commitment to clean energy, innovation, and knowledge-driven collaboration, and aligns with national objectives of energy transition, sustainability, and the development of environmentally responsible urban ecosystems.
