Oil India Limited (OIL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 to collaborate on the development of a Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) project, marking a step forward in advancing cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
The MoU establishes a framework for joint efforts between the two public sector undertakings to explore opportunities in the bio-energy segment, with a focus on waste-to-energy initiatives and low-carbon fuel alternatives.
The collaboration aligns with India’s broader energy transition objectives, supporting the circular economy, reducing carbon emissions, and strengthening the country’s domestic bio-energy ecosystem. It also reinforces the commitment of OIL and HPCL to contribute to sustainable development while enhancing energy security through indigenous and renewable energy sources.
The partnership reflects the growing role of public sector enterprises in driving innovation-led, environmentally responsible growth in India’s evolving energy landscape.
