The National Zoological Park, situated in New Delhi (Delhi Zoo), enthusiastically observed the International Day of Forests on March 21, 2024. This year’s theme, “Forests and innovation: new solutions for a better world,” underscored the importance of forests and their role in fostering innovative solutions for global challenges. The event aimed to raise awareness among visitors about the significance of plants in our ecosystem.

The festivities commenced with a doodle art activity at the Education Centre of the National Zoological Park, inviting visitors to participate in creative endeavors. Subsequently, a film screening on Mission-LiFE was presented, further enriching the experience for attendees. Following these engaging activities, a plantation drive took place in the vicinity of a recently revitalized water body, with National Zoological Park staff members leading the effort by planting trees.

Effective management of forests and responsible utilization of their resources are pivotal in mitigating climate change and ensuring the prosperity and well-being of present and future generations. It falls upon us to safeguard these invaluable natural resources through the adoption of innovative techniques and practices.
