Ministry of Minority Affairs, in collaboration with Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM), Tripura, organized an Industry Conclave on Convergence for Viksit Bharat 2047 under the PM VIKAS initiative. The event brought together industry leaders, government officials, and training partners to deliberate on strategies for building a skilled and globally competitive workforce.
Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, George Kurian, highlighted that industry collaboration is key to preparing youth for emerging technologies, automation, and new-age job roles, aligning with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047.
The conclave witnessed participation from representatives across 11 sectors, including healthcare, aviation, electronics, tourism, and hospitality.
These agreements aim to strengthen industry-training partnerships and implement PM VIKAS objectives effectively.
Industry and government leaders discussed aligning skilling initiatives with market realities, expanding apprenticeship opportunities, and enabling global employability of Indian youth.
The conclave emphasized that skilling success is measured in real livelihoods and dignified jobs, not just numbers. Employers were urged to engage in curriculum design, provide apprenticeships and placement opportunities, and adopt emerging technologies to empower youth.
Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) scheme integrates modern industry needs with India’s traditional strengths. So far, 41 projects across 30 states and UTs have benefitted over 1.34 lakh youth and artisans, providing holistic skilling and employment opportunities.
Panelists included senior officials from the Ministry of Minority Affairs, NSDC, Wadhwani Foundation, and industry leaders from NITCON Ltd., Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd., Hyatt Regency Delhi, and EY India.
George Kurian urged sustained industry engagement, stating: “Partnership between government and industry is the cornerstone for a skilled, empowered workforce. Together, we can prepare minority youth for domestic and global opportunities as India moves towards Viksit Bharat 2047.”
