Milestone Achievement is a new era for India’s Green Aviation and Sustainable Energy Future.
In a historic step towards India’s clean energy infection, the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil) has become the first Indian company to secure the ISCC course certification for the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production at its Pinipat Refinery. Certification is an important condition for the commercial production and distribution of SAF, indicating India’s readiness to contribute to the global Green Aviation goals
The achievement was formally marked at a ceremony in New Delhi, where the certification agency M/S Kotechana was present. Sahni, Chairman, gave a certificate to Indianoul, Mr. Rohit Mathur, Joint Secretary, in the presence of the Ministry of Petroleum.
Appreciating the achievement, dignitaries appreciated the coordinated efforts of MOPENG, DGCA, NABCB, MOCA, and Certification Agency Kotkna, which align India’s regulatory and production structure with international aviation stability standards.
International stability and carbon certification (ISCC) under the carbon offsetting and cut scheme for international aviation (CORSIA), developed by ICAO, ensures that SAF meets the highest benchmark for stability and life cycle carbon cuts. The SAF produced in the Panipat Refinery has been a harsh assessment to detect and reduce emissions, enabling Indian airlines to integrate certified green fuels in their operations.
This milestone sets a benchmark for other refiners in India, which supports the government’s pure-zero emission target by 2070. With this belief, IndianOil has confirmed its position as a leader in India’s energy infection, which has brought the country closer to the future.
